Walking one day
I found her crumpled and curled,
Shivering and sighing,
Hair knotted and clothes hanging loose.
As if she was torn down from heaven
By hands unwilling to let go.
Laying in a circling halo
Of flattened grass.
Flowers growing to cover her skin.
The only parts moving were her
Hands on her chest -
Fists made, unmade
Like an old heart pumping.
Kneeling beside,
I gently offered her up.
Wishing her sleep so deep
And calming.
Dreams to match her beauty,
A smile crossed my lips
As I rose and
Walked away.
